During this summer season, I truly hope that all of you are taking time for a much-needed break from your routine. We need these respites to give our bodies and minds a chance to recharge.
I also hope that whether it is a vacation or staycation, you have found “your happy place.” A place that feeds your soul with beauty or grounds you in your journey. I have been fortunate to have both this year.
First, I traveled to one of my favorite places on earth, a place where I take in beauty and find peace. That is the Caribbean, specifically the island of Anguilla in the British West Indies. The ocean, with its stunning turquoise waves, melts into a deep blue horizon that finally meets the big blue sky. I can’t get enough of it.
Second, I have been spending more time at my Hill Country ranch than I have in recent memory. Spending time reconnecting with the land, my dogs and Longhorn cattle is hard to beat. Of course, it is also where my art studio and gallery are located.
Combining the glorious scenes of my Caribbean days with time to reflect and work at the ranch has resulted in a new collection of paintings, “Open Oceans.” They are all based on views and vistas etched in my mind’s eye.
As my newsletter readers, you are the first to view this collection. I hope you enjoy diving into these incredible landscapes in this collection. If any of them speak to you, perhaps you will have to add one or two to your own art collection.
I am so grateful for this summer that has brought me new ideas, vision and time to reflect. It will prepare me for the busy fall ahead.
Still dreaming of the Caribbean,
