Favorite Austin Hangout
As a former Texas Monthly staffer, I have to give a nod to the area’s legendary BBQ, and one of the best in our own backyard is Stiles Switch BBQ & Brew. It’s run by good people serving up the Texas trilogy of ribs, sausage and brisket.
Favorite Gay Gaddis Painting
Choosing one favorite is impossible, but if I had to pick it would be a tie between Snow Moon and Angel of the Morning. The first is soft and almost glows, and the second is rich with color that just makes me happy.
Pets
We have a beautiful Pointer mix named, Betty, who pulls my husband on his skateboard following my daughter on her bicycle to school everyday. She’s become a neighborhood superstar!

Favorite Austin Hangout
Its hard to choose just one! I spend most of my mornings at town lake going on runs. I love the greenery, water and turtles. I also enjoy spending time at Mayfield Park, mainly for the peacocks. These are some of the few places in the city that still feel calm.
Favorite Gay Gaddis Painting
I feel drawn to Cookie Shine from Gay’s “Angels and Arrows” collection. It feels like a pastel sunset, soft and quietly luminous.
Pets
A beautiful white, blue-eyed tabby named Fin! He’s social, slightly spoiled, and a tad bit chunky; he also responds to Glitter and Sparkles 😉

Favorite Austin Hangout
Austin and the University of Texas have tons of great spots that I cherish, but one I really love is Donn’s Depot. They play great music, especially on Thursday nights, with cool history and free popcorn.
Favorite Gay Gaddis Painting
Double Heart Pastures is a beautiful landscape depicting Gay’s beloved ranch.
Pets
My family in Dallas just adopted a new King Charles Cavalier named, Beau! I’m hoping he gets to visit Austin soon.

Favorite Austin Hangout
Tricia Ulberg: I love kayaking on Lady Bird Lake and then stopping by an Austin food truck somewhere downtown for lunch! I especially love Tex-Mex and Fresa’s Chicken al Carbon is a favorite date night pick.
Daniel Bisett: My favorite Austin hangout is not a bustling coffee shop or a trendy bar, but rather the tranquil Zilker Botanical Garden. It’s my go-to place for peace and quiet in the midst of Austin’s vibrant energy.
Favorite Gay Gaddis Painting
Tricia Ulberg: I love Glory Hallelujah from the Vistas collection because it reminds me of how I felt when I first experienced Texas sunsets after moving to Austin from Seattle.
Daniel Bisett: Choosing a favorite Gay Gaddis painting is tough, but Pledge captures the essence of a tranquil Texas sunrise, radiating calmness and beauty. It’s a reminder of the simple, yet profound moments of peace we often overlook in our daily lives.
Pets
Tricia Ulberg: I have a Ragdoll kitty with beautiful blue eyes named Penelope (we call her Nellie). She cannot resist an empty lap. She’s also a fan of walking on my keyboard while I’m trying to work.
Daniel Bisett: My home is a lively blend of love and chaos, thanks to my four incredible children and three rescue dogs. Skippy, the audacious Chihuahua, leads the pack with her larger-than-life attitude. While Winter and Sandy, my two Lab mixes, are the epitome of affection and loyalty.
